Their challenge for the month of September is to create a layout using this sketch:

She is a dreamer

Once Upon A... Sketch has posted its second challenge for the month of September.

There is no specific theme this time but you need to journal two lines directly to the photo.  It can be written or printed directly on the photo or you may use journalling strips on the photo.  And of course, you must use this beautiful sketch by Nadia Cannizzo.

Here's what I did:

Sharing with you some of the details for you to appreciate my work.

The Journalling:  I used some Technique Tuesday stamps. 

I used clear granular gel on the diecuts and coarse pumice gel on the clock (left side).  Other materials:  Paper and flower - Webster's Pages, Prima; Chipboard (dreamer) - Dusty Attic; Jo Sonja's Opal Dust; Stencil - Prima; Mask; Swirl - Prima; Stickles.

However, there's a little twist in the challenge.  The viewers will vote for the winner and Top 5 projects the whole day of September 30th (Australian Eastern Standard Time).  So I'm begging you to support me and vote for my work.

What's at stake?

The winner (chosen by the people) will receive a pack of the latest and most popular chipboard from Imaginarium Designs.

Second placer will get a set of the brand new collection from 3ndypapir, a Norwegian company.

Two randomly chosen winners will receive Count Me In or Mix and Mend Collection from Sassafras Lass.

Tien's Art

I had a busy week and no time to scrap.

Last Friday, I received a notice from my daughter’s school saying that the compilation of students’ artworks is due on September 29.  I checked my daughter’s file and everything was not in order so I had a good reason to make use of my scrapbook stuff.

The first page was supposedly an introduction about the student.  A name and grade level will do but I prefer to have a layout instead.  Here it is:

I am also sharing some of Tien’s favorite artworks.  See below:

Because this Windmill is Tien’s most favorite of all her creations, she specifically instructed me to place it on the second page.  She designed it with grasses and sun made of art paper and she even requested me to give her a fence diecut and cloud cutouts.

I remember one day when Tien was so excited to show me how good she was creating a ribbon.  She said she learned it from this project.

It’s good that schools nowadays require this kind of project from the parents.  It’s a great bonding time with the kids.

Laugh Trip!

Sketchabilities has released Sketch No. 55.

I had only very minimal time to create new projects because I've been too busy these past two weeks with production workload and project deadlines.  But because the current sketch is very nice, I spent that so little time I had altering an old layout.  Here it is...

The pictures were taken last year in a Chinese restaurant.  While we were waiting for the food to be served, my little Tien and I made some wacky and happy poses.  What a happy memory!

I'd also like to take this opportunity to greet my dear Tien a happy 5th birthday!!!  May God bless you always.  I love you Tien!!!

Kid At Heart

Just a quickie post...

This is an old project (probably last July or August, senior moment LOL).  I made use of the October Afternoon papers and chipboards.

See the white color on the bird's wing?  That's pearl mica.  Nice, isn't it?

I missed the dusty attic chipboard houses from a local store so I just made my own version from a cardboard.  I finished it with pearl ink to make it more appealing.

Webter's Pages (A Late Post)

This is a very late post.  But as saying goes, "It's better late than never...",   = )

In July, I attended a Webster's Pages class at Lasting Impression which was hosted by Iris Uy. 


The day was very fruitful.  I learned how to use alcohol ink and coarse pumice gel, and discovered a new product from Tattered Angels, the Glimmer Glam (hope this will be available in the Philippines soon). 

I was able to finish two of four layouts.  The other two were done at home because I only brought limited embellies during the class and I had a hard time choosing the best pictures for the remaining layouts.

Move it baby! Sketchabilities No. 54

Hello there!

I got the chance to visit the site of Sketchabilities and I found this sketch.

It is so nice! 

However, instead of following the original sketch, I reversed the position of each details or flipped the page horizontally so it would fit the picture. 

Mr. Mojo was with me so I finished it quickly.  Here's the result...

Instead of circles, I used doily and flowers to make the page more feminine.  Besides, my daughter personally picked the embellies she like (I gave in 'coz she's the subject anyway), LOL!

Instead of using a paper as base of the picture, I made use of clear granular gel to frame it then finished with a pink perfect pearls.

I also use the clear granular gel with this cage before I painted it with a gold acrylic.

The doily served as a mask.

Featured at InspireMe!!!

Hi everyone!

I got this e-mail from InspireMe and I'd like to share it with you.

I started blogging, joining the challenges and posting my works in some sites just last month and I am so happy to see my Profile being featured at Webster's Pages InspireMe.

Webster's Pages is one of my favorite brands not only because of the papers' vintagey but elegant look, but because it suits the usual theme of my LOs which is girly page for my little angel.

I don't know how WP InspireMe chooses the featured profile but seeing myself there makes my heart leap for joy.

I wish that someday, I'll find my works posted in other sites i.e. a winning entry perhaps...  =)

2005, Always and Forever

Once Upon A... Sketch is up with a new challenge on September 1st. 

This is the criteria:

> Title must be a year.

> Journal should be at least 2 lines on why the title is memorable.  Journalling can be in any language or any format.

> Use this lovely sketch designed by Nadia Cannizzo.

Here is my version:

I flipped the page counterclockwise but retained the title in its original position on the upper right of the layout.

To make the page more magical, I used opal dust to trace the diecut and also put some of it on the flowers and the number stickers.

My first journalling was a mess.  So I painted it with gesso, covered with some flowers and hid the journal in a sort of a scroll.  It says:

He was my bestfriend in College.  After almost six years of being together, we got married in 2005.  The memories are still fresh in my mind.  The church ceremony was very solemn, the reception was fun and all the guests including our parents, relatives and friends were very happy.  A memorable occasion indeed...


I hope hiding the journal won't invalidate my entry.  

Anyway, I enjoyed playing along and that's the most important.
