Sweet Girl

I am an avid follower of Prima.  Early this month, they posted the December Prima Product Pick and Palette and this one shows the colors to follow:

I love these Christmas colors!  They add joy to this special day not to mention the family gatherings and gift-giving.  I can't help but create a layout showcasing the above colors and this one's my masterpiece...

Wondering how I did the vine on the right side of the layout?

I cut it from the Folio paper (under Printery Collection).  It was black.  Hence, I...

1.  traced the vine with a light brown paint
2.  second coating was dark brown paint
3.  the top was finished with red, green and gold glitters

...  then viola!  It became a gorgeous embellishment!

I apologize for not providing a bigger screenshot.  I'll post it by next week.

List of Prima products:

# 842468 - Parfait from Madeline Collection
# 841188 - Butterfly Wings from Pastiche Collection
# 843557 - Folio from Printery Collection
# 841164 - Vintage Garden from Pastiche Collection
# 552176 - Fantasy Forest
# 541767 - Textured Alphabet Sticker from Paisley Road Collection
(Blue but painted with brown paint)
# 890780 - Garden Fittings
# 537562 - Winter Rose Melon Ice
# 529925 - Windsor Rosie London
# 543884 - The Roosevelt Col Deland
# 550042 - Stencil/Mask, Iron Gate

I hope you like my layout.  Thanks for dropping by!

Happy New Year to all!!!

The pearls look good on top, right?  I just bought them from a local fabric store, LOL.

So I hope you like it.

Crate Paper Class with Iris Uy - November 2011

The girls had a great time at Lasting Impression last Saturday during the Crate Paper Class with our master, Iris Uy.  Our goal was to finish five layouts using the new Random Collection but Iris was able to create another one so we had a total of six layouts instead.

Sharing with you my versions:

1st Layout - Sweet and Adorable

2nd Layout - Feels like a child again

3rd Layout - Beautiful Princess

4th Layout - Animal Lover

5th Layout - Me & You

6th Layout - Happy Times

In the 4th layout, we were able to use UTEE or Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel.  It was my first time and I enjoyed doing it.  I just need more patience if I do it all by myself.

So that's it!  Thanks for viewing!

Enjoy the weekend!

Field Trip for Sketches in Thyme (Skecth # 62)

Sketches in Thyme has posted its last challenge for the month of November.  This time, it is double pager!  Here's the Sketch # 61 designed by our dearest Tiffany:

Honestly, I am not comfortable creating a double page layout.  I find it tedious, LOL!  In my two years of scrapbooking, this is just the second time.  But guess what?  I enjoyed doing this one!!!  See my creation below:

I had no time to print horizontal pictures.  So instead of using horizontal photo on both sides, I used the tickets from the Seussical play which also served as souvenirs.  And since the white base is so plain, I made use of my mini paints to make the layout more colorful.
Hope to see your takes in our link.

Have a good day!

The gang

Whew, what a busy week!  I almost missed the second challenge of My Creative Sketches' Big Sketch Contest.  The deadline of submission of entries is November 20 (midnight est time USA) and I finished my layout just now.

Anyway, to be in for the contest, you must follow this sketch designed by Kim Keane.

Here's my masterpiece:

The Webster's Pages' Let's Celebrate line helped me bring this layout into existence so easily.  I love the bright and happy colors that match my daughter's picture.

As you can see, I followed every detail of the sketch:  the position was retained; the picture, title and journaling were made visible in their original place;  the vertical and horizontal boxes as well as the scallops on the right side remained in their position;  the x x x in the left side of the picture was made clear with the use of native string (see below).

Here are some details for you to appreciate:

The four sides were painted with an acrylic paint before I coated with Glimmer Glam.

Lately, I've been hooked into masking.   This time, I used the Feathers template from The Crafter's Workshop.

This fence die cut was first coated with Gesso then painted with Crackle Paint before I finished with the Tattered Angel's Glimmer Glam.  I enjoyed doing this stuff!  You might also want to try this with your projects in the future...

Would you like to know what's up for grabs?  Drum roll please...  This gorgeous kit!!!

I hope the DT will pick my entry this time (crossed fingers)...

Enjoy the weekend everyone!

Love lots!

The most wonderful story

I visited the site of Scrap-it-Lah, and their November challenge is quite appealing to me.

The requirements?

All layouts must incorporate the following (thereafter any extras may be added):

1.  Layers - at least 6
2.  Stamping and/or embossing
3.  Tags or journaling cards incorporated into the design (not necessarily used to journal on but can be if you choose)

Well, I'm not used to layering 6 items.  So this is indeed a "challenge" for me.

The Sketch 58 of Sketchabilities helped me carry out Scap-it-Lah's November challenge.

So here is my take:

I did lots of layering on this one (whew! ).

I also made stamping all over the base page with Glitz Design then the top with Technique Tuesday.

See the gold bird cage in the tag?  It was heat embossed.  I used Pink Paislee stamp then the Ranger Gold Embossing Tinsel.

Some other details...

I love this one!  The clock (Sizzix Weathered Clock) was first coated with Gesso, then painted with pink Crackle paint and finished with Tattered Angels' Glimmer Glam.

This doily was made from Paper Trey's die.  The sides were coated again with Glimmer Glam then finished with Liquid Pearl after gluing the picture.

I hope you like it.

Oops, before I forgot.  The winner for Scap-it-Lah's November challenge will receive this very beautiful Studio Calico Tatting Kit!

I hope the team will pick my entry.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!  Ciao!

Your smile makes my life much brighter for Sketches in Thyme (Sketch # 61)

This is my first ever layout for Sketches in Thyme.

The challenge is to make a layout using this sketch.

Hope you'll find time to drop by the site and join the challenge.  Your entries can be linked at the sidebar until November 27.

Thanks for dropping by!  Happy weekend everyone!

Aloof

Hi there!

The submission of projects in Once Upon A... Sketch will end few hours from now and I have just finished my entry.

Journalling criteria:  A most embarrassing / awkward / uncomfortable moment or characteristic / feature / habbit / mannerism / quality or quirk you or someone around you possesses.  Journal at least 2 sentences on  a moment that you will remember for all the wrong reasons.  Combine the journalling criteria with the sketch below:

Here's what I've made:

I flipped the sketch horizontally.

My journalling:  When Tien was three years old, she was very shy in front of the camera and always hiding my back when there were other people around her.  But she was able to overcome her shyness and now one of the friendliest in the class.

That's it!  Ciao!

Pahiyas Festival - Sketches in Thyme DT Call

I found out that Sketches in Thyme is looking for new members to join their design team.  The new DT members' term will run from November 2011 to April 2012 and the members will be asked to complete two layouts per month.

2 - Post the DT call in the blog along with the take on the sketch
3 - Leave a comment in their site telling them that you would like to be considered for the DT, along with the link on the blog post

Nothing to lose if I try, right?  So here is my take:

My love for Echo Park's Summer Days Collection has not yet ended.  Since the theme and the papers' colors concur with my photos, I used them again.  LOL!

By the way, here's the sketch to follow:

Wish me luck!

What a fun summer! - Sketchabilities: Sketch # 57

It is so hard for me to start from scratch.  That's why I always go to my favorite sites to get some inspiration (and join the challenges as well, LOL).

This time, Sketch #57 of Sketchabilities is the best one for my little girl's pictures taken during summer of last year.

I am currently hooked into Echo Park's Summer Collection because of its color and design.  In the above layout, I made use of clear granular gel in the fence diecut, rub ons in the trees,  stamps, stickles and liquid pearl.

By the way, this is the Sketch # 57.

I just flipped it horizontally, like this...

Gotta go now...  My little girl will attend 2 trick or treat activities tomorrow and I still have lots of stuff to prepare.

Good night!
